WELD was written in September 2023 for The Big Lemon Collective, a forward-thinking composer-performer collective based in New York City. This piece, whose title comes from a quote comparing motion in parallel fifths and octaves to "birds welded together in flight", stands in defiance to that conventional wisdom by exploring the unique sound world of various wide-ranging parallel intervals.
